National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health

This is a consequential moment for maternal mental health—and a moment for collective action.

The National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health is bringing together community, health care, government, research, philanthropy, and business to drive the systems change needed to ensure every mother has access to effective mental health care.

Complex issues require comprehensive solutions and cross-sector engagement.

While awareness about maternal mental health has grown substantially, gaps remain for a variety of complex and interrelated reasons, such as

  • misaligned provider incentives,

  • lack of advancement in diagnostics,

  • absence of paid leave, and more.

The National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health will advance the systems change necessary to close these gaps.

The National Coalition will build on the National Strategy for Maternal Mental Health, translating its vision and recommendations into action across states, health systems, communities, and the nation.
